This explains its investigated use in vitiligo treatment, where it may help restore pigmentation in depigmented skin areas when combined with narrowband UV-B phototherapy.

One study demonstrated potential effects on stress response and mood, showing "antidepressant-like and antistress effects" in male rats subjected to chronic unpredictable stress models.
